Soprano, Alto, Baritone and piano
The River celebrates the majesty and immense lifespan of a river. Its words are adapted from Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem A Farewell, and the music of the chorus is drawn from an orchestral interlude in Leoš Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen.
The work was written for CBSO SO Vocal, and was first performed at Birmingham Town Hall on 15 July 2017, accompanied by members of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
Available in SA (i.e. upper voices), SAB and SATB arrangements. A café orchestra (rhythm section, tenor sax, trumpet and strings) arrangement, with free parts and full score, is available for download.
